District #45 Lafayette

  1. Support and advocate giving decision making power back to the citizens of the City of Lafayette by working with and lobbying the municipal government and using any legislative means to move for deconsolidation

  2. Allow all rate and taxpayers in the city to take advantage of the investment we all made in the state of the art fiber optic network. Close loopholes and prioritize expansion of LUS Fiber services to all Lafayette city residents--including all apartment dwellers.

  3. Work with the city government for plans to and leverage opportunities with regional and city partners:

    • Increase tree canopy across the city to minimize the heat island effect in the summer and beautify the city, while also helping to manage and filter stormwater .

    • Make Johnston St. Beautiful …Again?

    • Increase protected bike routes and pedestrian only spaces in the city including a city greenway

    • More Savannah style neighborhood squares or an “emerald necklace” network of parks

    • Increase investment in good comfortable transit ; focus on increasing usability and rideship

      • Leverage incubator spaces to develop rider app

    • Encourage mixed zoning spaces to alleviate traffic and allow residents to experience more of the city without sitting in traffic

  1. Invest and expand LTS (Lafayette Transit System)

  2.  with more buses and routes, mobile application, real-time tracking and more industry best practice updates

  3. Attend meetings of city/parish councils with and on behalf of District #45, with an aim to provide more oversight, engagement and transparency in city-parish government--As evidenced by the LCG Audit and the Legislative Auditor investigation-- the Mayor-President’s practices that continue to endanger the City
