Health &

Welfare

Every Louisianian has a right to health and a healthy environment. All Louisiana citizens deserve full bodily autonomy. Healthcare is about what is best for patients, NOT politicians. Louisiana is in the top 3 for HIGHEST maternal and infant mortality rates in the nation and is currently 48th in life expectancy. These are the emergencies we should be focused on, not winning tweet points and getting A-ratings from lobbyists.  We must also protect our healthcare providers from government overreach, burnout, overwork.

  • Mandate with the help of workers, associations and hospitals staffing levels to support patient safety and health of staff.

  • Drastically lower Louisiana’s infant and maternal mortality rates by focusing on at risk communities

  • Free contraception provided by hospitals and clinics

  • No funding of crisis pregnancy centers that do not employ medically licensed staff

  • Prohibit any law providing penalties for providing evidence-based care

  • Reorganize TANF grants system into needs-based, evidenced based UBI

  • Focus on remedying and alleviating health risks for Louisianians in Cancer Alley

  • Housing first solutions for homelessness.
